Arnedo's municipal music school unveils activities for 2026-2027

The Municipal Music School of Arnedo has revealed its extracurricular programme for the first and second trimesters of the 2026-2027 academic year. This initiative includes concerts, parades, and auditions at various locations throughout the city.

The announcement was made by the Councillor for Culture, María Jesús Zapata, alongside Ana Herrero de Orta, head of studies at the school, and Iván Alguacil, the school's secretary. They highlighted the successful start to the academic year, with the school currently enrolling 224 students, one of the highest numbers in its history.

The school's teaching activities are organised into 14 groups for musical language and 12 instrumental ensembles, which include an orchestra, a band, two modern music combos, brass groups, violin, guitar, percussion, chamber music, and a charanga, a type of festive band.

The programme includes activities with confirmed dates and times, although the school does not rule out additional collaborations throughout the year. The first event will take place on Saturday, 14 November, with a charity concert for UNICEF at 14:30 in the Church of Santo Tomás. The Municipal Music School has been a UNICEF Friend School since 2015, and this event incorporates the promotion and protection of children's rights into its educational programme. The concert will feature solo student performances, various groups, and students performing alongside their teachers.

Following this, on Saturday, 21 November, the traditional Santa Cecilia parade will see the school's small band join the Municipal Band of Arnedo to march through the city streets, departing from Plaza Nuestra Señora de Vico at 18:00.

On Friday, 4 December, at 19:00, the school's band will perform a short concert of Christmas carols in the gardens of the Palacio de la Baronesa, coinciding with the lighting of the Christmas decorations. Finally, on Saturday, 19 December, the Teatro Cervantes will host the traditional Christmas concert at 19:30, showcasing the work accomplished during the first trimester with performances from guitar, violin, percussion, and brass groups, as well as the orchestra, band, and solo piano students.

The second trimester's programme will commence with a Carnival parade scheduled for Saturday, 6 February 2027, at 12:30, featuring the charanga from the Municipal Music School providing musical entertainment during the procession through the streets of Arnedo.

Between 15 and 18 February, the school will hold a series of instrumental auditions where students will individually present their work across various specialities. These performances will take place at the Casa de Cultura, Centro Joven, Teatro Cervantes, Municipal Music School, and, as a new addition this year, the bar La Clandestina, located in the Palacio de la Baronesa. All auditions will be free of charge and open to both students' families and the general public, aiming to bring the school's work closer to the community and showcase its educational offerings.

The Municipal Music School encourages all citizens to participate in and enjoy these events, which allow for the sharing of students' efforts and the promotion of music in various spaces across Arnedo.
