Casa de la Juventud Lázaro Siliuto will host a literary evening on 29 October to celebrate Día de los Finados, an initiative aimed at bringing popular culture and tradition closer to the community through literature. The event will feature authors Ana Alonso and Elena Sicilia, who will read from their book 'Los finados. El día de los muertos', a work that delves into the customs and significance of this celebration that honours those who have passed away.
The gathering is set to begin at 18:00 and will provide a space to share literature while keeping popular traditions alive, encouraging interest in culture and participation in activities promoted by the Casa de la Juventud.
Additionally, throughout the week, Casa de la Juventud Mascareño is welcoming various groups of students from local schools, allowing them to explore the facilities and engage in activities related to the theme of Los Finados. These initiatives offer young people a playful and participatory approach to the Canary Island traditions associated with this celebration, promoting knowledge and the transmission of cultural heritage to new generations.
With these initiatives, the youth spaces in the municipality are becoming meeting points to connect literature, memory, and Canarian traditions with the community, particularly the younger population.
The Distrito Joven project, led by the Department of Education and Youth, will also participate in the celebrations. A Halloween youth camp will take place at AAVV Acorán on 30 and 31 October, from 18:00 to 08:00. This activity, which has 30 available spots, will offer young people a chance to enjoy themed dynamics, night games, mystery activities, and creative workshops inspired by Halloween, all in a safe and participatory environment that will foster social relationships and the formation of new friendships.
