The Caudete Caving Centre has successfully conducted the first phase of its women’s spelunking workshop, titled "Taller mujer Espeleóloga 2026", from 9 to 11 October. Eight women participated in this initiative, which is in collaboration with the Castilian-Manchegan Federation of Caving and Canyoning, as well as the Tourism and Sports departments of the Caudete Town Council.
The workshop commenced on Friday with an opening ceremony where participants received their credentials, were introduced to the workshop programme, and attended presentations by the centre's management, the Tourism Councillor, and the Sports Councillor.
On Saturday, the training began with both theoretical and practical classes held in the Cueva Santa of Caudete. The final day of this first phase allowed the eight participants to apply the techniques and knowledge they had acquired the previous day.
As a complement to the workshop, a talk will be held on 17 October at 10:00 in the Vicente Lillo Hall of Caudete. Cavers Mercedes Calle and Anatolio Tormo will discuss the Cueva de los Tallos and the role of women in the history of this discipline. The event is open to anyone interested.
