Arena negra de día to showcase five musical acts in Gran Tarajal

The Arena Negra festival will once again host Arena Negra de Día, a special daytime programme taking place on Saturday, 7 November, in Gran Tarajal. The event will feature five musical acts: Andrea Rodríguez and the Banda del Trópico, Kilombo Improvisado, NIA, ContraVentura, and Timbeque. This day will blend Latin rhythms, tropical sounds, and innovative interpretations of traditional Canarian music.

The daytime programme complements the musical offerings of this year's Arena Negra festival, which will occur on 6 and 7 November at Gran Tarajal beach. The evening performances will include national and international artists such as Juan Magán, Rosana, Luis Fonsi, Delaossa, and Los Secretos.

The daytime lineup aims to showcase a diversity of styles and connect with various audiences, highlighting artists linked to the Canarian identity and musical heritage. Andrea Rodríguez and the Banda del Trópico will present their project 'Songo & Pambiche', a musical bridge between the Canary Islands and the Caribbean, fusing genres such as merengue, cumbia, timba, salsa, vallenato, and son. Rodríguez has a background in Canarian folklore and Latin American music, with works like 'Trópico de Capri' and 'Navidad en el Trópico'.

Kilombo Improvisado will bring a festive proposal combining Latin rhythms, original songs, and familiar sounds. Founded in the Canary Islands in 2019, the band is known for its participatory live performances that blend popular music energy with a strong Canarian identity.

NIA, the winner of the eleventh edition of 'Operación Triunfo' and Spain's representative at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, will contribute her experience in tropical music and salsa. Her career includes collaborations with both national and international artists, connecting Latin genres with contemporary sounds.

ContraVentura, led by Majorero timple player David Rodríguez Santana, 'El Majorero', offers a fresh perspective on traditional Canarian music through the fusion of timple and contra majorera with styles such as jazz, funk, rock, flamenco, and contemporary folk.

Completing the lineup is Timbeque, a vocal and musical group from southern Fuerteventura that has traversed the island to highlight the richness of Canarian and popular music. Their repertoire combines traditional themes from the archipelago, some of which have been revived from obscurity, with Latin American melodies. The group incorporates instruments like the Venezuelan cuatro and the Cuban tres, enhancing the musical connections between both sides of the Atlantic.

Since its inception in 2018, the Arena Negra festival has established itself as one of the major musical events of autumn in Fuerteventura and a key highlight in the cultural calendar of the Canary Islands. Its seaside stage at Gran Tarajal beach provides a unique setting where music intertwines with local life, promoting community engagement and revitalising the municipality.

The festival's diverse styles and artists reflect its identity, attracting varied audiences and helping to position Fuerteventura as a destination linked to culture, live music, and shared experiences. The daytime programme enhances this experience with offerings that invite attendees to enjoy live music while valuing both Canarian talent and cultural connections between the islands and other regions.

The Arena Negra festival is organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands and the Tuineje City Council. The daytime programme also receives support from Cajasiete and the Asociación La Gavia.
