Comú de Escaldes-Engordany unveils new exhibition programme until 2027

The Comú de Escaldes-Engordany has revealed its new exhibition programme for the Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany (CAEE) and Espai Caldes, set to take place from November 2026 to September 2027. This cultural initiative aims to promote a diverse and high-quality artistic offering that showcases various disciplines, highlights local talent, and engages the public with the works of prominent international artists.

According to the culture councillor, Valentí Closa, the programme focuses on a multidisciplinary approach, balancing local and international talent while integrating classical, historical, and contemporary elements.

Exhibitions at CAEE

The new season at CAEE will feature three exhibitions that span different eras, disciplines, and forms of artistic expression. The first exhibition, titled Antifèmina, will run from November 2026 to February 2027. It will showcase photographs by Colita and texts by Maria Aurèlia Capmany, revisiting a pioneering feminist work published in 1977, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary the following year. This exhibition will be accompanied by a series of activities organised in collaboration with the Escaldes-Engordany Library.

From March to May 2027, CAEE will present an exhibition exploring over 300 years of history of the Royal Tapestry Factory, featuring a selection of tapestries, rugs, sketches, drawings, looms, and historical documents that illustrate the evolution of this institution from its founding in 1721 to the present day. This initiative, organised in partnership with the Royal Tapestry Factory and supported by the Andorran Embassy in Spain, will include activities in collaboration with the Textile and Glass Workshop.

Further exhibitions will highlight the importance of commerce in the parish and the country, alongside a collaboration with the Royal Tapestry Factory. Finally, from June to September 2027, the exhibition Keith Haring: Art for All will feature nearly 100 graphic works by the American artist, known for his distinctive visual language, social commitment, and efforts to democratise art. This exhibition will include notable series such as Apocalypse and Against All Odds.

Programming at Espai Caldes

Espai Caldes will focus on recovering the historical memory of Escaldes-Engordany, promoting Andorran talent, and showcasing artisanal creation. Until 14 November, the venue will host exhibitions featuring works from the Textile and Glass Workshop for the 2025-2026 academic year and the 15th Textile and Lacemaking Conference.

From 17 December to 5 June 2027, the exhibition Pioneers of Commerce will pay tribute to individuals who contributed to the commercial development of the parish and, by extension, the country, from 1900 to 1978, with a particular focus on the period between 1930 and 1978. This exhibition will continue the efforts to recover historical memory initiated with Las Escaldes: Pioneers of Hospitality 1900-1960.

The season will conclude from July to September 2027 with an exhibition by Alfons Valdés, one of Andorra's most prominent abstract artists, combining a retrospective of his career with new works, celebrating his unique artistic universe.

Through this new exhibition programme, the Comú de Escaldes-Engordany reaffirms its commitment to culture as a means of revitalisation and projection for the parish, while solidifying CAEE and Espai Caldes as complementary cultural facilities within the communal offering.
