The dramatized concert 'Ricard Viñes, memory of a pianist', organised by the Universitat de Lleida (UdL) and the Institut d'Estudis Ilerdencs (IEI), filled the Gran Teatre de la Passió in Cervera to capacity on Thursday. A total of 1,700 attendees, primarily from around thirty University Extension Classrooms associated with the UdL, filled the venue.
Pianist Albert Guinovart performed some of the most popular works of the Lleida-born composer, while actors Fèlix Pons and Queralt Albinyana brought his diaries to life. Among the notable attendees were Maria Àngels Balsells, the rector of the Universitat de Lleida; Joan Talarn, the president of the Lleida Provincial Council; Montse Parra, the director of territorial services for the Culture Department in Lleida; and Jan Pomés, the mayor of Cervera.
The event was presented by Núria Casado, the vice-rector of Culture, and Màrius Bernadó, the director of the Ricard Viñes Chair at the UdL. Casado described the dramatized concert as "a piece that exudes love" for the Lleida pianist and composer.
