The second Commerce Gala in Santander celebrated the contributions of local businesses, awarding Lera, La Folie, and La Quesona for their achievements in the community. The event, presided over by Mayor Gema Igual, took place at the Centro Botín and served as a tribute to those who keep the city vibrant through their enterprises.
During the gala, Mayor Igual emphasised the significance of local commerce, stating, "This is a recognition for those who are used to attending, listening, advising, solving problems, and always offering the best of themselves." She urged residents to continue supporting local businesses, reinforcing that choosing a neighbourhood shop contributes to the local economy, job creation, and community strength.
The awards were presented in three categories: the Legacy Commerce award went to Lera, recognising its family-run heritage and enduring customer relationships. La Folie received the Innovative Commerce award for its ability to adapt and evolve to meet changing customer demands. The Entrepreneurial Commerce award was given to La Quesona, celebrating those who have launched their own projects and contributed to the development of new spaces.
The gala was organised by the Commerce Department of the Santander City Council in collaboration with Ruido Interno, COERCAN, the Chamber of Commerce, the Directorate General of Commerce, and the Centro Botín.
