The Cubo del Revellín has reopened its doors, inviting both local residents and visitors to explore one of Logroño's most iconic heritage sites. This reopening restores the site as a public space and provides various educational resources that delve into the historical evolution of Logroño and the role its fortifications played in the city's defence.
Maquette ‘Logroño 1521’: a glimpse into significant transformation
One of the main attractions at the site is the maquette installed in the Cubo del Revellín, which details the ambitious urban regeneration initiative known as 'Logroño 1521'. This project aims to transform the areas surrounding the Revellín and Valbuena from urban, natural, cultural, and tourist perspectives. Under the slogan 'The future was here', the project includes the addition of 27,000 square metres of green spaces, the enhancement of heritage and archaeological elements in the area, improved pedestrian and cycling connections to the city centre, and the construction of two underground car parks.
'Logroño 1521' seeks to restore the prominence of this historical space, improve its integration with the Ebro Park, and create a more accessible and sustainable environment for public enjoyment. Key objectives also include the recovery and enhancement of archaeological remains from Valbuena, the former Inquisition, and the historical fortifications.
Informative panels: a journey through over 7,000 years of history
The visit to the Cubo del Revellín is complemented by a series of informative panels that outline the historical evolution of the Revellín and Valbuena area from 5000 BC to the present day. These displays guide visitors through significant events and transformations that have shaped this enclave, highlighting its historical, heritage, and cultural importance closely linked to the development of Logroño.
In this way, the Cubo del Revellín reclaims its role as a space for education and engagement with heritage, offering an opportunity to learn about the city's history and the projects that will help define its future.
