Mayor Abel Caballero announced on Tuesday that hotel occupancy rates in Vigo reached nearly 80% in October, a remarkable increase of 27 points compared to the same month in 2025. He characterised the data as 'extraordinary', highlighting the city's growing appeal as a tourist destination.
According to information provided by local hotels, 10% of visitors to Vigo came from within Galicia, while 53% were from other autonomous communities in Spain. International tourists accounted for 37% of the total, with the highest numbers arriving from Portugal, followed by the United States, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Despite October typically being considered a low season for tourism, Caballero stated that this month marked 'the best October in the history of the city', reinforcing Vigo's status as a significant tourist hub.
