Cultural programming in Villanueva de la Serena highlights the Felipe Trigo Prize

The Felipe Trigo Prize takes centre stage in the cultural programming for November in Villanueva de la Serena. Councillor for Culture, Ana Mansanet, has announced a month filled with literary events and activities designed for all demographics.

Mansanet emphasised that November is particularly significant for the town, marked prominently by literature and the celebration of one of its most prestigious events: the Felipe Trigo Literary Prize. The cultural agenda includes a wide array of theatre, music, cinema, flamenco, folklore, and charitable events.

She highlighted that this extensive variety of offerings aims to maintain accessible and close-knit cultural experiences throughout the year, while also serving as a catalyst for economic dynamism, attracting visitors and enhancing the external projection of Villanueva de la Serena.

Literary events and exhibitions

Literature will be the focal point of the month, featuring various meetings and exhibitions culminating in the prestigious award gala on 20 November. On 5 November, local author Jesús Sánchez Adalid will present his latest novel, “Tres halcones para Tamerlán.”

From 16 to 21 November, the Charo Acero Museum Centre will host the exhibition “Lorca Mujer. On 6 November, the Las Vegas Theatre will host the performance “Pasión por el Flamenco” featuring Fuensanta Blanco, Elena de Morón, Carolina López, and Sara Castro. A concert by the Extremadura Orchestra is set for 13 November, and on 15 November, the XV Pedro Ramos Regional Folklore Festival will take place in the Conquistadores Park.

The FanCineQueer Festival, which aims to highlight diverse realities and promote values of respect, equality, and diversity, will be held on 10 and 12 November at 20:30 in the Las Vegas Theatre. On 25 November, the Itinerant Film Library of Extremadura will return for another session. Theatre performances will include “Inés a través del viento” on 26 November and a staging of Agatha Christie’s classic “Murder on the Orient Express,” directed by José Sainz, on 27 November.
