The European Sports Town 2026 will showcase its own boxing event this Saturday at the 'Antonio Caba' pavilion. The event aims to honour renowned Spanish champions Javier Castillejo and Alfredo Evangelista. Despite a strong local interest in boxing, this will be the first major boxing event organised in Manzanares.

Thanks to a collaboration between the Ojos de Tigre Boxing Club and the Sports Department of the Manzanares Town Hall, the public can look forward to an exciting evening of boxing. "In 2026, our priority was to showcase all the sports practiced in Manzanares, especially those with local clubs," explained Laura Carrillo, the Sports Councillor, during a press conference announcing the event.

The boxing event will kick off at 19:00 and will feature up to twelve bouts. Local fighters from the province's top clubs will compete, including Ojos de Tigre from Manzanares, with Alejandro Pastor and Fabio Fernández headlining, along with RayFer from Ciudad Real, Boran from Almagro, Alma Matter from Tomelloso, and Team Puma from Miguelturra, which includes local fighter Samuel Manzanares.

They will face opponents from various regions across Spain, including Toledo, Albacete, Madrid, and Burgos. "There will be matches at all levels: school boys junior, youth, and elite (both male and female). I am convinced that the bouts will be closely contested and very enjoyable to watch," emphasised Manolo Pastor, president of the club, who expressed gratitude for municipal support in making this event a reality.

In addition to the boxing matches, the event will pay tribute to two of Spain's greatest boxers, who will be present at the 'Antonio Caba' pavilion to receive applause from the audience: Javier Castillejo and Alfredo Evangelista.

Tickets are priced at €15 for seating in the stands and €20 for floor seats. They can be purchased at the Be Fit sports centre, the pub La Bota de Oro, or by contacting members of the Ojos de Tigre Boxing Club. The official weigh-in, scheduled for 16:30, will be free and will include traditional face-offs between the fighters.
