Gipuzkoa is set to be at the forefront of discussions surrounding one of the significant social and economic changes of our time: longevity. The second edition of the ADINBERRI Longevity Forum will take place at the Kursaal on 14 and 15 October, featuring over 40 exhibitors and leading speakers who will explore how science, technology, prevention, innovation, economy, and entrepreneurship can enhance the quality of life for an increasingly ageing population.
Maite Peña, the Deputy for Care and Social Policies, Rakel San Sebastian, the director of the ADINBERRI Foundation, and Cristina Garmendia, president of the Cotec Foundation for Innovation and co-founder of SILO, presented the event today. They highlighted that this edition marks a significant advancement in both its programme and experiential dimension, aiming to engage the wider community.
Addressing longevity as an opportunity
The ADINBERRI Longevity Forum is a visible expression of Gipuzkoa's strategic commitment to proactively address the implications of an ageing society. This transformation is viewed not merely as a demographic challenge but as an opportunity to foster well-being, innovation, knowledge, and economic activity while responding to the lifelong needs of individuals.
“Longevity is one of the great transformations of our time, and Gipuzkoa aims to tackle it by anticipating, innovating, and always placing people at the centre,”
said Maite Peña. She emphasised the importance of developing comprehensive responses that combine prevention, personalisation, innovation, and community, stating that “living longer is great news; our collective challenge is to ensure we can enjoy those years with maximum autonomy, well-being, and quality of life.”
The ADINBERRI Foundation, a public foundation of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council focused on longevity innovation, aims to improve quality of life while turning the new needs associated with an ageing society into opportunities for innovation and development.
Two days of knowledge and innovation
The forum will bring together scientific and technological fields, businesses, public administrations, professionals, innovation agents, entrepreneurs, and citizens. “We want Gipuzkoa to be a territory capable of anticipating, experimenting, and generating solutions that can then be applied to society. The ADINBERRI Longevity Forum embodies this approach: bringing together knowledge, innovation, and experiences, while also connecting people and organisations to foster new responses and opportunities,” Peña explained.
This year’s forum will feature a practical dimension, with a fair showcasing 40 exhibitors, allowing attendees to explore projects, products, technologies, and services related to longevity. The Living Lab will be a key highlight, providing real solutions for participants to experience firsthand.
Open access for the public
On 15 October at 15:30, the forum will open its doors to the general public, offering free access with prior registration. Attendees will have the chance to visit the fair, explore the Living Lab, and engage in practical programming designed to promote healthy, autonomous, and fulfilling longer lives. Keynote speaker Emilio Duró will present on “Living longer and better: experiences and keys to a fulfilling life.”
The forum will also feature discussions on active ageing, nutrition, exercise, social relationships, and cognitive well-being, with contributions from various experts in the field.
Supported by sponsors including MasOrange, Santalucía, and others, the ADINBERRI Longevity Forum aims to transform the Kursaal and Gipuzkoa into an international meeting point for understanding and addressing the ongoing transformation of our ageing society.
