In celebration of the international Erasmus Days, IES Zapatón has hosted the third edition of its traditional gastronomic competition. The event has established itself as a festive day of community and collaboration, highlighting the importance of practical training and the values of mobility and cultural exchange.
More than twenty contestants participated, demonstrating a high level of technical skill, creativity, and proficiency in their culinary creations. This initiative aims to underscore the impact of the Erasmus+ programmes at the institution, promoting excellence, teamwork, and the international projection of the educational community.
After the dishes were prepared, a jury composed of parents from the school's AMPA (Parents' Association), teachers, and representatives from the Torrelavega City Council, including the Councillor for Health, José Luis Urraca Casal, and Councillor Miguel Ángel Vargas San Emeterio, evaluated the quality of the entries before announcing the winners.
Urraca Casal congratulated the participants for “the high level demonstrated in their dishes” and for “the simple act of cooking at their age, which represents an essential skill that should be recognised, as well as their research and work on dishes from other countries, bringing us closer to different cultures.”
