The University of Zaragoza will launch a new edition of 'Los Martes del Paraninfo' on 3 November, a lecture series featuring emeritus professors from the institution. This marks the twelfth edition for the 2026-2027 academic year. The series, organised by the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Heritage in collaboration with the Association of Emeritus Professors of the University of Zaragoza (APEUZ), aims to bridge the gap between university knowledge and society.

The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Vicente Salas Fumás, emeritus professor of Business Organisation at the University of Zaragoza. He will discuss the topic of 'Democracy in the Workplace', opening a space for reflection on the relationships between organisations, their employees, and participation in decision-making processes.

Throughout the 2026-2027 academic year, the twelfth edition of 'Los Martes del Paraninfo' will feature 18 lectures from November 2026 to April 2027, covering a wide range of disciplines and areas of knowledge from the University of Zaragoza. Upcoming topics will include artificial intelligence, ultra-processed and genetically modified foods, globalisation, mental health, rural economic activity, and renewable energies, alongside discussions on history, literature, genetics, religion, and heritage.

Highlighted sessions will address the impact of artificial intelligence on human intelligence, the dialogue between science and literature through 'Frankenstein', the genetic significance of maternal surnames, and the role of science and technology in contemporary society.

The series brings together professors who, after completing their regular academic careers, have been recognised as emeritus for their dedication and exemplary professional contributions, continuing to engage in research and teaching. They possess notable scientific credentials and extensive experience in higher education.

As in previous years, the lectures will take place on Tuesdays at 19:00 in the Aula Magna of the Paraninfo building at the University of Zaragoza, with free admission until capacity is reached. This edition will also feature live streaming of all sessions, ensuring high-quality audio and visual access, allowing audiences to participate from anywhere. Lectures will be available for live viewing as well as on-demand through the University of Zaragoza's Culture YouTube channel.

With this new edition, the University of Zaragoza reaffirms its commitment to scientific and cultural dissemination, as well as the transfer of knowledge to society, highlighting the experience and academic legacy of its emeritus professors.
