The council of La Línea de la Concepción has taken decisive action to prevent an unauthorised Halloween party planned for the evening of 31 October. A decree from the mayor's office ordered the suspension of the event, which was aimed at young people and minors, citing significant doubts about its legality and safety.
The party was set to take place at a venue in the El Zabal area, from 22:30 on Saturday until 05:30 on Sunday. It was expected to feature security personnel and a DJ, with tickets priced at €25. However, the venue's urban classification does not permit such activities. Additionally, concerns were raised about the availability of alcoholic beverages at the event, which posed particular risks given the expected attendance of minors, including teenagers as young as 15.
In response to these concerns, the council has implemented immediate measures to close the venue and secure it with police presence, ensuring that the party cannot proceed under the announced conditions. The local government aims to reassure parents and guardians, especially of teenagers aged 12 to 17, regarding the proliferation of illegal and clandestine parties that may create a false sense of normality and safety among young people.
The council advises families to verify the conditions of any parties their children plan to attend, including the venue's authorisation, emergency measures, access control, and the presence of alcohol. They are urged to be cautious of invitations circulated via social media or messaging apps that lack verifiable information about their organisation and safety.
Municipal authorities express heightened concern for minors who may not fully understand the risks associated with attending events that operate outside of administrative and safety regulations. The council prioritises the need to protect minors from participating in activities that lack essential safety guarantees, which could expose them to risks related to alcohol consumption and other substances, insufficient emergency measures, overcrowding, or inadequate venue conditions.
The announced location's compliance with urban regulations is also critical, as the viability of hosting such an event must strictly adhere to applicable laws, which, in this case, were not met. The municipal intervention effectively prevents the party from taking place, alleviating concerns for families regarding their children's safety on Halloween night.
The council calls for responsibility from event organisers and encourages families to collaborate in preventing adolescents from attending events that do not provide sufficient legal and safety guarantees.
