The InterPirineus event took place in Val d'Aran, bringing together approximately one hundred representatives from tourism entities and companies across the Pyrenees region. The event included presentations, workshops, training sessions, and networking opportunities, occurring immediately after the AdventureELEVATE Europe congress.
Juan Antonio Serrano, Vice President of the Tourism Board of the Lleida Provincial Council, stated that "both meetings help position the Pyrenees as a reference destination for active and nature tourism." He highlighted that InterPirineus serves as a key meeting point for the tourism sector and the entities associated with the Pirineus brand in Catalonia.
Serrano also emphasised the importance of such events in fostering alliances, sharing experiences, and progressing towards a sustainable, innovative, and competitive tourism model. The event commenced with a welcome dinner on Thursday, coinciding with the conclusion of AdventureELEVATE Europe, which facilitated connections with international tour operators and journalists attending the congress.
As part of InterPirineus, two familiarisation trips have been arranged for eight national and international tour operators to explore regions including Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Alt Urgell, Cerdanya, and Val d'Aran.
The InterPirineus event is organised by the Pirineus de Catalunya programme, which includes the Catalan Tourism Agency (Department of Business and Labour), the Tourism Board of the Lleida Provincial Council, the Institute for the Development and Promotion of Alt Pirineu and Aran (IDAPA), Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Tourism Boards of Costa Brava Girona and the Barcelona Provincial Council, and the Conselh Generau d’Aran.
The AdventureELEVATE Europe congress, also held in Val d'Aran this week, attracted around 300 attendees, including tour operators, specialised agencies, media representatives, and industry experts from various global markets. Among the participants, a dozen were from the tourism sector in the Pyrenees and Terres de Lleida. Representatives from the Lleida Tourism Board engaged with about twenty tour operators from countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, Sweden, and Italy, as well as holding numerous meetings with the Catalan tourism sector.
Serrano expressed a positive assessment of Lleida's presence at the event, stating that it allowed them to showcase the potential of their territory and establish strategic contacts with international operators and professionals.
