Llanes will host the world premiere of ‘Emilie and the secret of the storms’ during the fourth edition of ‘Mini Llanes de Cine’. This children and youth film festival is set to occur on 16 and 17 October at the Casa Municipal de Cultura in Llanes, with free entry available through prior reservation.
The festival will kick off on Friday, 16 October at 19:00 with the premiere of ‘Emilie and the secret of the storms’, directed by Caroline Attia Lariviere. The film follows eight-year-old Emilie, an adventurous and sensitive girl who has recently moved to the mountains with her family. In her new home, located in a serene and lush valley, strange occurrences have been reported: during thunderstorms, the village's animals suffer and fall ill. Emilie suspects a connection to the thunder and decides to investigate with her neighbour Manon, confiding in her a secret ability: she can hear music emitted by the storms. This enigmatic adventure encourages a reconnection with the languages of nature and celebrates diversity, acceptance, and the joy of finding one's place in the world.
The festival will continue on Saturday, 17 October, with a high-quality film programme. At 18:00, a showcase of short films will feature titles making their debut in Asturias, including ‘The spirit of Christmas’ (Jorge Tudanca), ‘Kronoshock’ (Ignasi López Fàbregas), ‘The pirate adventure of Casa de Bruno’ (Vega), and ‘Dear soul’ (Clara Beltrán Concha). The festival will conclude at 19:00 with a screening of ‘Robot Salvaje’, the acclaimed film by director Chris Sanders, which has received nine Annie Awards. This film tells the epic journey of a robot, unit 7134, known as 'Roz', who washes up on a deserted island and must learn to adapt to the harsh environment, gradually forming relationships with the island's animals and becoming a foster mother to an orphaned gosling.
All screenings are free until capacity is reached. To ensure access, tickets can be reserved in advance through the official portal.
