Estepona to host the andalusia difficulty climbing championship on 24 and 25 october

The Estepona Town Hall has announced that the Andalusia Difficulty Climbing Championship will take place on 24 and 25 October, serving as the second scoring event for the 2026 Andalusia Cup. The competition is organised by the Estepona Mountain Group (GRUME) and the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FADMES), in collaboration with the Estepona Town Hall.

The event will be held at the municipal climbing wall located in the Fair and Sports Complex, with activities scheduled for Saturday from 08:00 to 22:00 and Sunday from 07:45 to 17:30.

Participants can compete in various categories, including U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, U19, and Absolute, as well as Promotion and Veteran categories. The use of helmets is mandatory for the U15, U17, U19, Promotion, Absolute, and Veteran categories. The U9, U11, and U13 categories will use the Top Rope climbing method for their ascents.

The U15, U17, U19, Absolute, Promotion, and Veteran categories will compete using flash and on-sight formats. The Promotion category may be mixed, and only athletes who have not placed on the podium in any Cup event in the last two years in the U19, Absolute, or Veteran categories are eligible to participate.

To qualify for the podium and score in the overall Andalusia Cup standings, participants must hold a valid annual licence from FADMES or the Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports (FEDME). Additionally, to qualify for the final classification of the Andalusia Championship, participants must possess a valid annual licence processed by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking.

All registered participants with an annual federative licence and residing in the province of Málaga, or those processed through a club in the province, will also be entered into the Provincial School Age Difficulty Climbing Championship, which will run concurrently.

The registration period will remain open until 16 October on fadmes.es. During the event, a solidarity bar will be managed by the Entregatos Association of Estepona. The third and final round of the Andalusia Difficulty Climbing Cup is scheduled to take place in Huelva in November.
