Noemí Llauradó, the president of the Diputación de Tarragona, inaugurated the 12th Artisan Glass Festival, known as Vitrum, on 3 October. In her speech, she underscored the significance of preserving and promoting local traditions, stating that such efforts can create future opportunities, as exemplified by this festival each October and the Glass Museum and Furnace throughout the year.
Llauradó welcomed the new glassmakers, Laura Corona and Za San Segundo, who recently took over from the previous glassmaker, Rafa Abdon. The inauguration was attended by Joan Canela, the mayor, along with municipal councillors, mayors from neighbouring towns, and other institutional representatives from the Diputación, the Comarcal Council of Conca de Barberà, and the Generalitat of Catalonia.
During the weekend, Vitrum attracted numerous visitors who enjoyed live glassblowing demonstrations, family activities, and a craft and agri-food market. The festival is organised by the Town Council, in collaboration with local civic organisations and volunteers, and receives support from various administrations, including the Diputación de Tarragona.
