The '50 years together' programme, initiated by the regional government to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Spain's Transition to democracy, held its inaugural concert in Los Yébenes, a municipality in Toledo. This event drew nearly 3,000 attendees who revelled in performances by the orchestras 'Conexión' and 'La Misión'.
The concert, part of a series aimed at rekindling the spirit of traditional Spanish festivities known as verbenas and guateques, took place in the town square and the fairgrounds. The festivities began in the afternoon with a local orchestra, providing a platform for local hospitality businesses to set up bars and food trucks.
As night fell, the atmosphere transformed with the energetic performances of the two major orchestras. The concert by 'Conexión' in the town square featured a repertoire designed for dancing and entertainment, appealing to a wide audience. Meanwhile, 'La Misión', established in Madrid in 2012, captivated the crowd at the fairgrounds with a dynamic show that included live music, choreography, acrobatics, and an impressive audiovisual display.
The regional government aims to bring the celebration of the Transition's 50 years into public spaces, fostering a sense of community and participation through popular and engaging activities. This musical initiative seeks to revive the soundtrack of the past five decades while highlighting the importance of social gatherings that have historically contributed to community bonding and transformation.
The next performances by 'Conexión' and 'La Misión' are scheduled to take place in Villacañas on 30 October.
