The Jesús Hermida Communication Centre is set to close the year with a rich cultural programme that includes conferences, literary presentations, training sessions, and exhibitions. This varied agenda will mark the end of a busy 2026, during which the municipal space has hosted over fifty events and activities throughout the year.
One of the highlights of the upcoming programming is a meeting with journalist and author Nativel Preciado, scheduled for Tuesday, 1 December, at 18:30. This event is part of the 'Ethics and Communication' cycle. Preciado, a prominent chronicler of Spain's recent history, will present her book 'Secrets and Lies', which reflects on significant events over the past fifty years in the country. The discussion will also touch on current political and social issues, occurring just two days after the general elections. This meeting holds special significance due to Preciado's professional relationship with Jesús Hermida, with whom she collaborated on the programme 'Hermida y Cía'. Entry to this event will be free until capacity is reached.
The general programme will kick off on Tuesday, 10 November, at 19:00 with a conference titled 'Journalism and the 27', led by Manuel Vázquez Medel. This talk will explore the connections between journalism, poetry, and the Generation of '27, serving as a precursor to the centenary celebrations of this literary group planned for next year.
On Thursday, 12 November, the exhibition 'Inner Nature' by Huelva painter Marively García will open, running until 3 December. This exhibition features a selection of abstract paintings where the artist delves into the expressive possibilities of colour, form, and emotion, inviting visitors to discover her unique perspective on the inner world. That same day, at 18:00, María Barragán, a film director from Huelva, will present her book 'Under the Sheets'.
The agenda will continue with a free workshop on new journalistic platforms, focusing on podcasts and short videos, led by Vanesa Navarro on Tuesday, 17 November, at 17:30. This initiative, supported by the Huelva Press Association, aims to deepen understanding of new digital communication formats and tools, with registration available via a form.
On Wednesday, 18 November, journalist Marina Bernal will present 'Quinterianos', a book dedicated to the figure of Jesús Quintero, a significant personality in Spanish journalism and communication. The following day, Thursday, 19 November, at 18:00, Héctor Garrido will introduce his award-winning work 'Room with Sky', recognised by the Cantabria Government Literary Award 2025 and the José María de Pereda Short Novel Prize.
The November programming will also feature the Disability Days organised by the TAU Foundation on Monday, 23 November, at 17:00, and the presentation of Juanpe Ponce's book 'Don't Tell Mum Where I Am. Eight Travels I Almost Didn't Tell', on Tuesday, 24 November, at 18:30. This book recounts eight real adventures experienced during travels around the world, combining humour, irony, and surprising situations.
Finally, the Centre will conclude its 2026 programming with a new artistic proposal. On Thursday, 10 December, at 18:30, the exhibition 'Portraits and Hyperrealism' by Monak Rodríguez will open, remaining accessible to the public until 8 January. This exhibition will showcase a series of works and portraits of journalists and television and radio personalities.
Through this programming, the Jesús Hermida Communication Centre continues to establish itself as a key venue for cultural dissemination, offering a blend of literature, journalism, training, and visual arts. This year, the Centre has maintained a constant activity level, reinforcing its role as a meeting point for communication professionals, creators, and the public, as well as enhancing its appeal within Huelva's cultural and tourist offerings.
