Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), which oversees the ski and mountain resorts under the Pirineu365 brand, has unveiled its winter season for 2026-2027 in an immersive format that highlights new features across La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot, Port Ainé, and Boí Taüll. The presentation focused on four thematic areas: territory, snow offerings, competitions, and sustainability.
After surpassing one million visitors last winter and achieving record snow accumulation, Pirineu365 is set to embrace a new season prioritising innovation, sustainability, and responsible management. This includes the implementation of technologies aimed at improving the efficiency of mountain environments and emphasising the economic and social impact of skiing in the Catalan Pyrenees.
New skier day and FlexiPass
This season, FGC is reintroducing the FlexiPass, a payment system designed for direct access to any of the six FGC ski resorts at the best daily price, including accident insurance. Existing FlexiPass holders can renew their subscriptions for just €15 annually, while new users can sign up for €25. Notably, from the 17th ski day onwards, users will not incur additional charges.
A new feature this winter is the skier day, allowing visitors to any of the six Pirineu365 resorts on Wednesdays to enjoy half-price lift passes with the FlexiPass.
Enhanced digital experience
To further enhance user experience, the Pirineu365 resorts have revamped their digital platforms, launching a new multi-resort online store where users can compare products from all six resorts in one location. This initiative complements the new websites and the Pirineu365 app introduced last year.
Innovations at each resort
Each ski and mountain resort has introduced specific innovations for the winter season:
- La Molina: Completion of improvements at Niu de l’Àliga, enhancing its status as a sustainable gastronomic hub. The resort will also host the Men's Giant Slalom European Cup on 1-2 February and the Youth Skimo World Championship from 3-7 March.
- Vall de Núria: Expanded winter activity offerings, including evening excursions, astronomy activities, and improved snowshoe trails. The resort will host the Spanish Snowrunning Championship and the Catalan Snowshoe Championship on 13-14 March.
- Vallter: Recently awarded the Biosphere Committed certification for sustainability, Vallter has expanded its terrace at Braseria Les Marmotes and introduced family-friendly activities.
- Espot: A new coworking space in the café at 2,000 metres allows guests to combine work with the stunning surroundings of Aigüestortes National Park. Espot will also host a Junior Freeride World Tour event on 6-7 March.
- Boí Taüll: The longest double zip line in Catalonia and a panoramic telescope will open this winter, enhancing leisure options. The resort will also host the Ski Mountaineering World Cup on 30-31 January.
- Port Ainé: A new gastronomic space, La Pica Bistró, will open at the Hotel Port Ainé, providing meals and snacks. The resort will host the Betula Freestyle competition on 20-21 February.
Pirineu365 promotes the initiative ‘Skiing at home leaves a mark’ to encourage Catalan skiers to enjoy the slopes of the Catalan Pyrenees, highlighting the tangible benefits this brings to the local economy across the four regions where FGC operates: Cerdanya, Ripollès, Pallars Sobirà, and Alta Ribagorça.
Commitment to sustainability
FGC is dedicated to sustainability, leading environmental initiatives and promoting responsible tourism. Under its Climate Action Plan 2030, notable projects include:
- Project Reviu: A circularity initiative aimed at repurposing plastic and thermoplastic waste into materials for the resorts.
- Project Neret: Focused on enhancing the natural capital of the resorts through CO₂ compensation and habitat restoration.
- Energy Transition Project: Aiming to increase the share of renewable energy consumption from 73.7% to 88.7% by 2031 through electrification and optimisation of energy use.
