The local government of Pozuelo de Alarcón has declared three days of official mourning following a tragic train accident in Urda, Toledo, which has claimed multiple lives. The mourning period will commence at midnight and last until Saturday, with municipal flags flown at half-mast and black ribbons displayed.
In line with this decision, all Halloween events scheduled by the Youth Department have been cancelled, including a film screening of ‘Los santos inocentes’ at the MIRA Cultural Centre and the performance ‘La biblioteca galáctica contra la IA fantástica’ set for Friday. However, the regular programming will continue as planned, including a performance of Mozart's ‘The Magic Flute’ on Saturday at the MIRA Theatre, to avoid further inconvenience for the approximately 600 attendees who have purchased tickets for this unreschedulable event.
Additionally, a minute of silence has been organised by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) for Wednesday at 20:00 in the Plaza Mayor, in front of the Pozuelo de Alarcón Town Hall. Residents are encouraged to participate to express their support and solidarity with the families of the deceased and injured in this tragedy.
