Rueda meets Agavi to discuss support measures for the tourism sector

This week, Alfonso Rueda, the president of the Xunta de Galicia, met with Mar Rodríguez Meseguer, the president of the Galician Association of Travel Agencies (Agavi), along with other representatives from the organisation. The meeting focused on various proposals to support the tourism sector, particularly the promotion of digitalisation, which is essential for modernising these businesses and adapting to new dynamics.

Also present at the meeting was Xosé Merelles, the director of Tourism for Galicia. Rueda highlighted the significant boost that the upcoming Xacobeo 2027 will provide for the Galician business landscape, noting the important role that travel agencies will play in this event.

During the discussions, it was emphasised that the Xunta aims to position Galicia as a competitive, sustainable, and attractive destination throughout the year, showcasing its natural, cultural, heritage, and gastronomic offerings. In this context, the work of travel agencies is crucial for marketing Galician tourism products and destinations, as well as for welcoming and accommodating travellers.
