The Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Bezana has announced the launch of a tender for technical assistance to draft the project and oversee the renovation of municipal premises located in Bezana-Lago. This initiative will create a new facility for cultural and social uses, which will house the future municipal library.
The renovation will significantly expand the library's current space from 220 square metres to around 700 square metres, allowing for improved service delivery and programming. The technical assistance contract has a budget of €99,825, including VAT, and a completion timeframe of seven months. Interested companies can submit their bids until 17 November at 14:00.
The overall investment for the renovation is estimated at approximately €1.8 million. The contract's objective is to define the layout of the spaces, adapt them for new cultural and social uses, and ensure accessibility throughout the facility.
The new library will be a central feature of the municipal facility, providing larger areas for reading and book lending, study rooms, and separate spaces for adults and children. It will also include areas for reading clubs, meetings, exhibitions, and presentations, along with administrative offices and necessary services for its operation.
This new configuration aims to enhance activities related to reading, learning, and cultural engagement, ensuring better conditions for user support and programming tailored to various age groups. In addition to the library, the project will allocate around 350 square metres for other cultural and social uses, accommodating meetings for associations and groups, courses, presentations, and other municipal activities.
The premises are located in the basement of the Bezana-Lago residential complex, accessible from Calle Respuela, between portals 4-O and 2-A. They were originally adapted in 2006 to function as a private telecentre until 2023. In 2025, the Ayuntamiento acquired the main premises, which total approximately 1,300 square metres.
This tender marks a significant step towards providing Santa Cruz de Bezana with a facility that will house the future municipal library alongside new cultural and social spaces, enhancing opportunities for reading, study, community engagement, and participation.
