The Seville Film Festival is reaffirming its commitment to young audiences in its 23rd edition, showcasing around thirty titles in its Europa Junior and Cinéfilos del Futuro sections. The festival aims to broaden perspectives on Europe through stories that explore themes of friendship, identity, and community, contributing to the development of a more open and empathetic citizenry.
Angie Moreno, the delegate for Tourism and Culture, emphasised that “one of the festival's key initiatives is to bring cinema closer to new generations, as we are convinced that investing in culture is investing in the future of our city.” This year, the festival anticipates 18,000 attendees and over 450 registrations from more than 200 educational institutions.
Europa Junior and Cinéfilos del Futuro
The Europa Junior section, aimed at children aged 3 to 11, features 12 titles, including ‘Momonsters: Christmas Movie’ and ‘The Great Forest Party’. For those aged 7 and above, stories such as ‘Arc’ and award-winning films from Cartoon Saloon, including ‘Wolfwalkers’ and ‘The Secret of Kells’, will be presented.
The Cinéfilos del Futuro section, targeting secondary and high school students, includes titles that encourage debate and critical thinking, such as ‘The Rookie’ and ‘Gagarine’. Additionally, the free online programme Ventana Cinéfila continues to bring cinema to classrooms with a selection of films and educational guides.
The festival's educational programming boasts a total capacity of 23,600 seats and has received over 450 registrations from educational centres across Andalusia, Ceuta, and Extremadura. The festival continues to reinforce its commitment to education and culture in Seville, expanding access to cultural experiences for younger generations.
