temporary diversion in A-5 area to connect with Huerta de Castañeda

Madrid City Council has announced a temporary diversion on Paseo de Extremadura, effective from 27 October until 9 November, to facilitate ongoing works for the Southwest Greenway project. The lower access linking Huerta de Castañeda Street with Paseo de Extremadura will be closed, with a surface detour established that maintains the same number of lanes in both directions.

This measure aims to advance urban transformation efforts in the area while minimizing traffic disruption. The Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility Department has assured that the new configuration will allow one lane for entry and one for exit, ensuring that traffic flow remains unaffected during this period.

The temporary diversion will be clearly marked and signposted to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians, as well as to effectively manage traffic movements. These works are part of the broader Southwest Greenway initiative, a strategic urban regeneration project designed to enhance the integration of surrounding neighbourhoods, improve public space quality, and promote more sustainable and accessible mobility.
