This weekend, Torrejón de Ardoz will transform into the largest urban climbing wall in Spain with the Urban Climbing Comunidad de Madrid event, which combines sport and celebration. This marks the first time the competition is being held in the Community of Madrid.
The event was presented this morning by the mayor, Alejandro Navarro, alongside the councillor for Sports and Tourism, Miriam Gutiérrez, and Juan Pedro Díaz, commercial director of Grupo Vocento, the event organiser, in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the local council.
The Urban Climbing event has already seen significant interest, with registrations selling out in just a few days. It will feature over 2,000 climbers of various levels and ages, including categories for children, youth, amateurs, professionals, and those over 50, setting a record for urban climbing competitions in Spain.
The qualifying rounds will take place on Saturday, 17 October, while the finals for the different categories are scheduled for Sunday, 18 October. More than €50,000 in prizes will be awarded.
The Plaza Mayor and the city centre will be transformed into a massive climbing wall, where participants will showcase their skills. Local residents are encouraged to attend and enjoy the festivities, which will include professional climbers like the Pou brothers, along with exhibitions, para-climbing demonstrations, talks, an open bouldering area, and live music, providing entertainment for the entire family.
Organisers invite the residents of Torrejón to come and witness this spectacular sporting event, even if they are not participating, to enjoy the atmosphere and share the experience with friends.
