The University of Alicante's Social Council is set to celebrate its annual awards gala on 29 October, an event that has been redefined by current president César Quintanilla to honour individuals and organisations for their significant contributions to social and university commitments.
This year's edition, resuming since 2022, has streamlined the awards to five categories, focusing on aspects closely aligned with the objectives of the Social Council. Following a council meeting on 8 September, Quintanilla announced the winners for this edition:
- José Miguel Martín, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and expert in adhesives, awarded the Knowledge Transfer Award.
- Manuel Desantes, Professor of Private International Law, recognised for Academic Trajectory, University Spirit, and Human Values.
- VEOLIA, recipient of the Patronage Award.
- Vectalia Movilidad, awarded the Institutional Chairs Prize.
- The Museum of the University of Alicante (MUA), honoured with the Culture and Sport Award.
The gala will commence at 19:00 and will feature speeches from César Quintanilla, the Secretary for Universities, Esther Gómez Martín, and the Rector of the University of Alicante, Amparo Navarro. The event will be hosted by journalist María Martín and will be available for viewing via livestream.
