The Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Society at the University of Almería has opened the submission period for proposals for the upcoming edition of its summer courses, which will run from 28 June to 23 July 2027. This announcement was made on Thursday, marking the official call for the selection of courses that will make up the programme for the 28th edition, an initiative that serves as a vital forum for knowledge exchange, debate, and the external projection of the institution.
With the opening of this submission period, members of the university community and interested professionals can now present their proposals through the university's official website. This new edition, driven by the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Society, introduces several important changes. Notably, there will be a limit of six official venues, which will include permanent locations such as Roquetas de Mar, Almería (encompassing the capital, the university campus, and Calar Alto), and Tíjola-Purchena, along with other collaborating towns that have suitable facilities and accommodation.
For the first time, courses can be scheduled during the first week at both Roquetas de Mar and Almería, whereas previous editions only allowed Roquetas to host courses during that week.
Diverse formats tailored to academic excellence
To meet current educational demands, directors and co-directors can focus their proposals on four different formats. The first is a theoretical-practical course (3 days), aimed at showcasing scientific-technical work or delving into relevant content through expositional and practical activities. There is also the option to offer a debate meeting (3 to 4 days), designed to address specific themes from multiple perspectives, combining presentations and round tables with experts.
Additionally, a workshop (3 to 5 days) will be available, focusing on applied teaching and professional development or retraining, and finally, a leaders' meeting (1 day), an exclusive format for either morning or afternoon sessions featuring internationally recognised figures in their fields.
Deadlines and registration
The deadline for submission of applications for the university's teaching staff, associated professors, and authorised personnel will remain open until 15:00 on 19 January 2027. Proposals must be completed electronically via the university's electronic administration catalogue. Following the selection and evaluation process by the relevant committee, the final list of approved courses will be published in spring, at which point general registration for any citizen over the age of 16 will open, offering attractive discounts for early registration and group enrolments until 31 May 2027.
Detailed information regarding the rules, forms, and evaluation criteria can be found on the official website of the Vice-Rectorate.
