The València city council has awarded the José Llorca Archaeology Scholarship for the 2026-2027 period to Carles Verdeguer Molins. This scholarship, which lasts for eight non-extendable months, will facilitate a comprehensive archaeological and documentary study aimed at inventorying, cataloguing, and identifying the term crosses that have withstood the test of time.
The project will also include the georeferencing of each cross and its integration into the municipal Geographic Information System (GIS), enhancing accessibility, dissemination, and management of this cultural heritage.
According to the jury of this municipal award, Carles Verdeguer Molins possesses the necessary training and experience in using GIS tools, databases, and photographic processing software, as well as specialised knowledge in documenting, locating, and analysing term crosses.
This initiative is part of the efforts of the Historical and Artistic Heritage Service of the city council and aims to promote awareness of these unique elements of historical and artistic heritage. The scholarship is valued at €8,000 and will be funded through the municipal budgets for 2026-2027.
