Vicealcaldesa inaugurates 27th disaster management conference in Madrid

The vicealcaldesa of Madrid and delegate for Security and Emergencies, Inma Sanz, inaugurated the 27th Disaster Management Conference and the 23rd Civil Protection Volunteers Meeting today, organised by SAMUR-Protección Civil. She emphasised the daily work of the emergency medical personnel, describing them as part of a leading emergency service in Spain and Europe, which also engages in significant research and educational activities.

Sanz, accompanied by the councillor for Latina, Alberto González, noted that large cities like Madrid face various challenges, particularly the need to be prepared for emergencies and civil protection risks. Events like the one commencing today at the Integral Centre for Security and Emergency Training (CIFSE) are crucial, featuring round tables, debates, and presentations from national and international experts with extensive experience in managing complex real-life scenarios.

Additionally, the vicealcaldesa congratulated the 1,200 volunteers of the Civil Protection Corps in the capital, who will also celebrate their 23rd Volunteers Meeting alongside the conference. This event will conclude on Saturday with a major simulation exercise at Cuatro Vientos Air Base, scheduled for 5:30 PM. The simulation will involve over 500 participants from various emergency services, security, hospital, and other institutions, aimed at enhancing their coordination and response capabilities in potential crisis situations.
