Xunta brings immersive experience 'hábitats. naturaleza extendida' to Vigo from 12 November

The Xunta de Galicia, in partnership with Afundación, is set to launch the immersive experience 'hábitats. naturaleza extendida' in Vigo on 12 November. This exhibition is part of the itinerant programming of the Cidade da Cultura, which has previously showcased the project in A Coruña and at the Museo Centro Gaiás in Santiago de Compostela.

The exhibition combines art and technology to foster a responsible relationship with the environment. Tickets for the event are already available for purchase on Ataquilla.com.

Developed by the Consellería de Cultura, Lengua y Juventud, the project recreates ecosystems from nine different locations around the globe using virtual and augmented reality. Visitors will wear headsets that allow them to see the physical world around them while safely navigating the space. Within this environment, a vibrant digital nature unfolds, illuminating the beauty and vulnerability of the ecosystems, thereby encouraging empathy among attendees.

'Hábitats. naturaleza extendida' is part of the itinerant projects of the Gaiás. The initiative aims to provide cultural content to centres and institutions across the region and beyond, promoting access to high-quality cultural proposals for all citizens, regardless of their location. It also seeks to showcase expressions of Galician culture in other autonomous communities and countries.

Since its inception nearly 15 years ago, the Fundación Cidade da Cultura has taken Galician creative proposals to various destinations, including major cities like Tokyo, New Delhi, Paris, and Buenos Aires. This year alone, nine projects have travelled to cities such as Madrid and Zamora, along with several Galician towns including Lugo, Ourense, A Coruña, Ferrol, Guitiriz, and Viveiro, with Vigo being the latest addition.

Afundación plays a crucial role in this collaboration, having previously hosted exhibitions such as 'Nicolás Mujer en Galicia', 'Otras historias posibles', and now 'hábitats. naturaleza extendida'.
