Alcaldesa highlights role of youth in promoting cultural and tourism initiatives in Jerez this autumn

The mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, alongside the Youth Delegate, Carmen Pina, recently met with local businesses involved in organising the Rabanito Festival, which will celebrate its fourth edition on 7 November at Alameda Vieja. The mayor praised the initiative led by Rabanitos Tiernos S.L., which brings together various Jerez-based companies that have collaborated with the Youth Delegation since 2023 to create an event that grows in popularity each year.

The festival offers a full day of activities showcasing the key elements of autumn in Jerez, encouraging young people to celebrate traditional gastronomy, local wine, and the region's rich culture. It also provides a platform for young artisans and features a high-quality musical programme.

During the meeting, García-Pelayo emphasised the municipal commitment to supporting young entrepreneurship and highlighted the importance of youth-led projects. She expressed gratitude to all participating businesses for their contributions to the festival, which has become a significant event in the city's calendar.

The mayor extended her support to the organising team as they prepare for the fifth edition of the Rabanito Festival, aiming to ensure its continued growth and its role as a vital meeting point in the province. She acknowledged the efforts of local businesses in creating jobs and fostering a spirit of collaboration for the social development of the region.

Young representatives from various organisations, including Gloria Vendimia, Albariza en las Venas, Awa Creatives, El Espartero, and El Borri, expressed their enthusiasm for increasing participation in the festival from Jerez and beyond, reinforcing its status as a space for showcasing young talent and forming new partnerships to promote Jerez's culture among youth.

This year's Rabanito Festival will feature artists from diverse genres, including urban culture, electronic music, rap, and indie, with local group Space Surimi among the performers. Other Andalusian acts include Kabasaki, Korashe, Cumbia del Pelícano, The Surroyal, and Novia Pagana. The event will also include vinyl sessions by Big Panza and DJ Manglar, as well as a drag show by Deenastía.

Starting at noon, the festival will offer a wide area for local crafts, a gastronomic zone featuring traditional dishes such as ajo and berza, and food trucks showcasing local wines. The event aims to celebrate the identity of Jerez, particularly its autumn attractions, while promoting young entrepreneurship through live music and the region's culinary offerings.

The Rabanito Festival aligns with Jerez's goals as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy and the Jerez Cultural City project. In 2025, approximately 9,500 people participated in various activities throughout the day. The previous edition involved eleven businesses as collaborators and sponsors, and featured 40 creators in the artisan market, providing them with opportunities to showcase their products and network with like-minded individuals.

With the success of the previous three editions, the Rabanito Festival aims to further promote the wine culture and gastronomy of autumn in Jerez among young people, presenting it in an engaging manner that incorporates music, crafts, and recreational activities for children.
