The delegate of the Xunta in A Coruña, Belén do Campo, attended a concert-conference titled Los valores del Ejército a través de la interpretación musical y las pinturas del Museo Nacional del Prado at the Palace of Capitanía. This cultural initiative combined historical and artistic education with musical interpretation.
The conference was led by Professor Juan de Dios Ruano Gómez, an ambassador for Marca Ejército, who discussed the ethical and moral principles of the Armed Forces through a joint approach to music and the masterpieces of the Museo del Prado. The event linked significant works of the art gallery with the ethical and moral principles of the Armed Forces, accompanying each pictorial narrative with a corresponding musical piece.
The main military values and their associated works from the Museo del Prado included: Love of the Fatherland, often represented by Joaquín Sorolla's painting Dos de Mayo; Discipline, linked to Titian's Alocución del marqués del Vasto a sus soldados; Spirit of Sacrifice, associated with Mariano Fortuny's La Batalla de Wad-Rass; Comradeship, represented by José Benlliure's Descanso en la marcha; and Courage, illustrated in Francisco de Goya's iconic works El 2 de mayo de 1808 en Madrid and La lucha con los mamelucos.
The musical segment featured the Music Unit of the General Support Command, directed by Commander Musician Iván Rodríguez Armán, who curated a repertoire designed to create a dialogue between the musical compositions and the values represented in the paintings.
By attending this event, Belén do Campo aimed to support this cultural initiative held in an emblematic location of the city, which brings the artistic and musical heritage closer to the public and allows for an educational and cultural understanding of the values associated with the Army.
