The performance El cinematógrafo, by the Asturian company Teatro del Cuervo, launched the tenth edition of the Cuéntalo Narrative Festival this morning at La Carpa de Francis, located in the Centro de la Cultura del Rioja. The mayor of Logroño, Conrado Escobar, the city promotion councillor, Miguel Sáinz, and the culture councillor, Rosa Fernández, attended the festival's inauguration, which runs from today until 14 November.
The festival's programme includes six discussions, two book presentations, three masterclasses, workshops, theatre performances, family shows, an exhibition, and artistic interventions in bookstore windows created by five prominent illustrators.
El cinematógrafo invites audiences to journey back to the origins of cinema alongside Francis Lumier, a supposed second cousin of the Lumière brothers, who reveals the secrets of their invention and screens the ten earliest short films in history. Attendees at this morning's preview enjoyed this sensory and immersive experience.
Members of the public can experience this performance today at 18:00 and tomorrow at 11:00, 13:30, and 18:00. Tickets are available at www.festivalcuentalo.com.
The tent will also host the performance Lanterne. La linterna mágica by the Navarrese company Pájaros Pintados on Sunday, 8 November, at 11:00 and 13:30.
Teatro del Cuervo is an Asturian company founded in Gijón in 2009 by actor and director Sergio Gayol. With over thirty original productions, the company has received numerous accolades, including a nomination for the Premios Max and more than twenty Premios Oh! for the Performing Arts of Asturias.
