The Palacio de la Paz in Fuengirola is set to host a concert featuring artist Macarena de la Torre on 6 February 2027, with proceeds supporting the Real Hermandad del Rocío. This event is part of the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the brotherhood.

Isabel Moreno, the local councillor for festivities, and Miguel Ángel Díaz, the cultural activities representative of the brotherhood, announced the concert today. Moreno highlighted the collaboration between the town hall and local associations, stating that the Cultural Department will provide the venue free of charge for this charitable event.

“The Town Hall of Fuengirola is committed to supporting and engaging with the entities and groups in our city. In this case, the Real Hermandad del Rocío requested assistance from Mayor Ana Mula, and we have been eager to offer our support to make this benefit activity possible,” said Moreno.

Moreno encouraged residents of Fuengirola to purchase tickets and enjoy the musical offering while contributing to the brotherhood's projects. Díaz explained that the funds raised will go towards the restoration of the Simpecado cart, a project that began approximately three years ago.

“In 2027, our brotherhood will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and we want to commemorate it with various initiatives, including this benefit concert. Our goal is to advance the restoration of the Simpecado cart, designed by our brother Miguel Ángel Martín Cuevas and currently being developed in his workshop, Orfebrería Montenegro,” Díaz stated.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 20:30, with tickets available from 12:00 on 30 October through Giglon.com, priced at €15 plus management fees. All proceeds will be directed towards the restoration project.

Macarena de la Torre, originally from Almonte, has an impressive career in flamenco, having won the first prize at the Flamenco Joven competition and the first prize for fandangos in Alosno. She has released three albums and will present her show, Año de Traslado, in Fuengirola. This performance reflects her experiences and memories related to the transfer of the Virgen del Rocío from the village to Almonte, a tradition that occurs every seven years. This year is particularly significant as it marks the Jubilee Year for El Rocío.

Finally, Díaz expressed gratitude to the Town Hall of Fuengirola for their support in making this charitable concert a reality.
