The Provincial Council of Cáceres, through its Sustainable Development and Tourism Area, along with the support of municipalities and communities within the Biosphere Reserves of Monfragüe and Tajo/Tejo Internacional, is organising the tenth edition of the Biosphere Reserves Month. Javier Díaz Cieza, the deputy for Demographic Challenge and Protected Natural Spaces, presented the programme for this special edition on Tuesday.
Running from 31 October to 29 November, the event will offer more than 40 free activities encompassing active tourism, culture, gastronomy, and nature. As in previous years, various activities will take place on weekends throughout November, allowing participants to enjoy the natural and cultural offerings of the reserves.
Returning favourites include botanical workshops, birdwatching, a hike to Cerro Gimio, climbing, and astrotourism. New activities this year feature a motorcycle tour along the scenic roads of Tajo Internacional, a route to Peñafalcón in Serradilla, a visit to the Haza de la Concepción estate, and a fun horseback ride.
In addition to these main activities, there are 12 complementary events promoted by the local councils, allowing participants to enjoy an afternoon activity and maximise their tourism experience. These include visits to interpretation centres, workshops on making chicharrón buns or bricks and tiles, and hiking routes, among others.
Registrations for the first week's activities will open on Tuesday, 20 October, at 22:00 through the website mesdelareservabiosfera.es. For subsequent weeks, registration will open each Tuesday at 22:00, one week prior to the activity.
One of the standout innovations for this edition is the introduction of a chat feature on the website, allowing visitors to chat in real-time with Berto and Raya, the mascots of the reserves, for detailed information about activities or suggestions for accommodations, restaurants, and parallel activities in the area.
