The councillor for Tourism, Josefina Barragán, has announced a new edition of ‘A cava en Almendralejo’, which is becoming a key gastronomic and tourist event for the autumn season in the city. The event will take place on 9 and 10 October, offering a programme that combines Almendralejo's cava with local cuisine and music.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, 9 October, at 20:00, with the official opening of spaces dedicated to cava and gastronomy. This year, ten exhibitors will participate, including cava producers such as Romale, Paiva, and Finca La Pintada, alongside the Wine Science Museum.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discover and taste a wide variety of tapas from vendors like El Rincón del Marisco, Iberquesos, Sabor Encina Tradición Ibérica, and Torti Azteca. During the presentation, Barragán emphasised the significance of cava as an identity product for Almendralejo, highlighting its connection to the city’s history, culture, and territory, as well as its role in promoting tourism, gastronomy, and economic development.

The first day will conclude at 22:00 with a concert by Sixko Durán, providing music for the inaugural night. The programme will continue on Saturday, 10 October, with various pairing proposals. In the morning, there will be a cava and ham tasting, while the afternoon will feature a cava and cheese combination. Music will again take centre stage with performances from members of the OMA, creating a blend of culture, music, and gastronomy. The day will wrap up with a DJ performance.

Participants can obtain a tasting glass by paying a deposit, which they can choose to keep or return for a refund, encouraging responsible and sustainable consumption. The gastronomic offerings will also include a food truck, with details to be announced next week by the councillor for Festivities, Tamara Rodríguez.

The Tourism Department encourages both locals and visitors to take part in this new edition of ‘A cava en Almendralejo’, an initiative aimed at promoting local products, wineries, gastronomy, and the city’s tourist attractions, with cava as the main highlight.
