Televisión Canaria to air highlights of 53rd Maspalomas Rally this Sunday

Televisión Canaria will air a special one-hour programme on Sunday, 1 November, at 10:00, summarising the highlights of the 53rd Maspalomas Rally, which serves as a crucial event in the Canary Islands Asphalt Rally Championship (CCRA). This rally is pivotal for the regional championship standings.

The current leaders, Enrique Cruz and Yeray Mujica, competing in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, aim for their third victory in this competition and fifth of the season, which would mathematically secure them the regional title. Their main rivals, Alexey Lukyanuk and Yury Kulikov in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, will seek to replicate their previous win in La Palma, hoping to extend the championship battle to the final event in northern Gran Canaria.

In addition to the regional title race, the 53rd Maspalomas Rally, which also counts towards the provincial championship of Las Palmas, features a strong list of participants vying for podium positions. Notable entrants include Luis Monzón and Eduardo González in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, alongside double Spanish champion Yeray Lemes and Aitor Cambeiro in a Citroën C3 Rally2.

The competition will also see the debut of Armide Martín and Taydía Santana in a Citroën C3 Rally2, as well as Lanzarote's Raúl Hernández with his co-driver Gabriel Espino in a Toyota. Yoday Betancort and Pedro Viera, leaders of the provincial championship, will be making their third appearance in a Hyundai i20N Rally2. Jonathan Nuez and Aday Luján will also debut this weekend with a Citroën C3 Rally2 managed by Sports&You Canarias.

Due to the postponement of the Rally Villa de Teror, the Gran Canaria event will also count towards the Clio Trophy Canarias, adding seven teams to the lineup. The rally will follow a similar route to last year's edition, structured as a single stage divided into three sections, featuring timed stages at 'Era del Cardón-Agüimes' (8.62 km), 'La Pasadilla-La Cumbre' (13.55 km), and 'Ayacata-San Bartolomé' (10.3 km), following the ceremonial start held on Friday, 30 October, from the Faro de Maspalomas.

In addition to the broadcast of the highlights on Televisión Canaria, the public broadcaster's sports channels on social media and the Canarias Play platform have been continuously covering the event with live updates, interviews with participants during regroupings, and updated classifications. All content aired can be accessed through the Canarias Play website.
