The upcoming session of the 'Media and University: Alliances for a Well-Informed Society' cycle will focus on the theme 'Root Journalism: Connecting with the Countryside'. This event is organised by the Vice-Rectorate for Communication and Institutional Identity of the University of Zaragoza, in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate for the Huesca Campus.
Scheduled for Thursday, 29 September, at 11 am, the roundtable will take place in the conference room of the Huesca Vice-Rectorate and will feature contributions from El Diario del Alto Aragón. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
The event will be inaugurated by Carmen Marta Lazo, Vice-Rector for Communication and Institutional Identity; Marta Liesa Orús, Vice-Rector for the Huesca Campus; and Elena Puértolas Puértolas, Director of El Diario del Alto Aragón. Following the opening remarks, the roundtable will be moderated by Alfredo Serreta Oliván, a professor at the Huesca Polytechnic School.
Participants in the discussion will include María José Lacasta, a journalist from El Diario del Alto Aragón; Laura Zamboraín, correspondent for Heraldo de Aragón in Jacetania and Alto Gállego; and Alberto Cebrián, founder and editor of Diario del Campo. The programme will conclude at 12:30 pm with a dialogue session, allowing the audience to engage in discussions about journalism and its connection to rural areas.
This cycle aims to foster direct dialogue between academia and professional journalism, addressing the key ethical, technological, and professional challenges faced by the industry today. It reinforces the university's commitment to a free and well-informed society through knowledge transfer, media literacy, and the promotion of rigorous and high-quality information. Additionally, it solidifies the university's role as a reference point for journalism analysis in Aragón while building bridges with the professional sector.
