El Portalet hosts exhibition marking 100 years of commercial agents in Alicante

El Portalet Palace is currently hosting the exhibition ‘100 years of commercial agents in Alicante’, which will remain open until 30 November. The exhibition has been organised to commemorate and honour the history of the sector through graphic material, historical documents, and products from Alicante-based companies.

This Tuesday, Lidia López, the Councillor for Commerce and Hospitality of the Alicante City Council, and Luis Morata, the Councillor for European Projects, visited the exhibition alongside Manuel Martínez, the president of the Official College of Commercial Agents. Over sixty commercial agents attended the event, which marks the conclusion of an itinerant exhibition that has travelled throughout the province.

Lidia López encouraged visitors to explore the exhibition, emphasising that “it is an opportunity to recognise the individuals who have dedicated their lives to this profession over the decades and to understand how our economy has evolved over the past 100 years.”

The centenary programme has included specialised courses on Artificial Intelligence applied to sales and Non-Verbal Communication, with diplomas awarded for these training courses during the event.

Manuel Martínez expressed gratitude for the City Council's collaboration in hosting the exhibition and highlighted the significance of the past century, stating, “We want to share our work, dedication, and commitment from generations of commercial agents and recognise their fundamental role in the business development of Alicante.”

The exhibition features emblematic products associated with commercial agents and showcases elements of their history and that of Alicante's businesses. Councillor Lidia López noted that through this exhibition, “we aim to connect and recognise all the commercial agents who have contributed to linking companies, products, and people, and to promoting the name of Alicante worldwide.”
