Illescas will celebrate the fourth edition of the crime fiction meeting, 'Mystery in Illescas', on 7 November, reinforcing its status as a key event in the suspense and mystery genre. The initiative is organised by the Cultural Department of the Illescas Town Hall, through the Central Library, and follows the success of previous editions.
The event will take place at the auditorium of the Casa de Cultura, serving as a gathering point for enthusiasts of crime narratives, authors, and experts in suspense literature. Throughout the day, a variety of activities, discussions, and book signings will be held, in collaboration with Literaty Eventos.
The event will kick off with a welcome address from the mayor, José Manuel Tofiño; the Cultural Councillor, Carlos Amieba; and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Castilla-La Mancha, Carmen Teresa Olmedo. Following the opening, the programme will commence with a panel discussion titled 'The Silent Forest', featuring Manuel Marlasca, Estefanía García Durán, and Laia Cabrera, moderated by Ana I. Fernández Escribano.
Subsequently, author Mikel Santiago will lead a session titled 'The Girl by the Lake', moderated by Elena Fernández. After a lunch break, attendees can participate in the panel 'Beneath the Surface', featuring Marta Robles, Ana González Duque, and Jorge Ortega, moderated by Félix García Hernán, and 'Doors Inside', which will include Juan Tranche, Cristina Higueras, and Ernesto Pérez López, moderated by Miguel A. Marín Gabriel.
Additionally, the day will include several opportunities for book signings, participation in solving a mystery, and a raffle. The Illescas Public Libraries Network has noted that the meeting has garnered significant interest, with capacity expanded to 300 attendees, more than double that of the previous three editions. Registrations were filled just one day after the announcement of the event.
