The International Biennial of Watercolour from Caudete has inaugurated an exhibition at the Provincial Historical Archive of Albacete, featuring works from participating artists. This initiative is designed to be itinerant, aiming to bring contemporary watercolour art to new audiences and cultural spaces.

The exhibition opened on 3 November and was attended by several prominent figures, including Diego Pérez, the provincial delegate for Education, Culture and Sports; José Miguel Moyá Nieto, the mayor of Caudete; regional deputy Antonio Sánchez; the culture councillor of Caudete, Manoli González Solera; and the artistic director of the Biennial, Antonio Requena Solera.

During the inauguration, Diego Pérez expressed gratitude to the artists and the Biennial's organisers, highlighting the significance of this cultural initiative that has established Caudete as a "true reference for watercolour". He also acknowledged the role of the regional government in facilitating the exhibition's arrival in Albacete, which helps to promote the Biennial and its artistic collections.

Pérez noted that watercolour has become a hallmark of Caudete, stemming from the artistic legacy of painter Rafael Requena and sustained by those committed to preserving this tradition.

Mayor José Miguel Moyá emphasised that the Biennial is entering a new phase as a cultural project that will take the talent of its artists and the name of Caudete to new venues and audiences. This exhibition marks a significant step in the strategy to promote and disseminate the Biennial, aiming to broaden the visibility of participating artists and bring their work to diverse audiences.

The initiative is intended to be itinerant, with plans to travel to various cities across Spain, serving as a platform for contemporary watercolour and the artistic talent associated with this cultural project. The town council has expressed its gratitude to the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha and its provincial delegate, Diego Pérez, for their support and commitment to this initiative.

Additionally, the council acknowledges the essential collaboration of the Villa de Caudete Art Workshop and its members, particularly its president, Antonio Solera, for their dedication to the Biennial. Thanks to these efforts, the watercolour and culture of Caudete, known as the City of Watercolour, continue to reach broader audiences.

Antonio Requena Solera concluded by stating that the project "Entre Bienales" aims to enhance the visibility of the Biennial and its significance for Caudete, Albacete, and Castilla-La Mancha on an international scale. He asserted that art should serve as a source of convergence and hope during uncertain times. The exhibition at the Provincial Historical Archive represents an opportunity to project this legacy beyond the local context and strengthen the presence of Biennial artists in new cultural spaces.

Through this initiative, the International Biennial of Watercolour from Caudete reaffirms its commitment to creators, promoting their work even after each edition concludes. The project views culture as a space for encounter, dissemination, and opportunity, striving to ensure that the work of its artists continues to reach ever wider audiences.
