La Laguna extends bar and nightclub hours until January 2027

The La Laguna City Council has authorised an exceptional extension of closing hours for certain hospitality and leisure establishments during seven significant dates between October 2026 and January 2027. This measure aims to boost economic activity and facilitate crowd management during these celebrations.

The extended hours will apply on Halloween and All Souls' Day (31 October), the Christmas lighting ceremony (20 November), La Noche en Blanco (28 November), the eve of Constitution Day (5 December), Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and the Night of the Kings.

Generally, the maximum authorised closing times will be as follows:

  • Until 3:30 am: bars and restaurants without musical activity.
  • Until 5:00 am: bars and restaurants with musical activity.
  • Until 6:30 am: concert halls.
  • Until 7:30 am: nightclubs, dance halls, and event venues with shows.

On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, specific extensions will apply, allowing later closures:

  • Until 4:30 am: bars and restaurants without musical activity.
  • Until 6:00 am: bars and restaurants with musical activity.
  • Until 7:30 am: concert halls.
  • Until 8:30 am: nightclubs, dance halls, and event venues with shows.

The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stated that the measure aims to support economic activity and employment while maintaining necessary control mechanisms to ensure safe and orderly celebrations. Meanwhile, the Councillor for Urban Planning and Director of the Urban Management Department, Adolfo Cordobés, reminded that the authorisation is limited to establishments that already possess the required licence. It does not permit new activities, increases in capacity, or modifications to safety conditions.

The resolution also establishes a maximum period of 30 minutes for evacuating patrons once the authorised closing time is reached. The City Council believes that the extension can facilitate a more staggered exit for the public, reduce crowding in public spaces, and enhance pedestrian and transport mobility during peak days.
