Laureano León attends international beekeeping and tourism fair in Las Hurdes

The regional Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Laureano León, participated in the twelfth edition of the International Beekeeping and Tourism Fair of Las Hurdes (Apithur), held in Caminomorisco from 6 to 8 November. León emphasised that "this fair not only serves as a premier beekeeping gathering but also stands out as a significant tourism event."

At Apithur, honey acts as a gateway to explore the offerings of Las Hurdes, which include "lush mountain landscapes, idyllic slate villages, an impressive gastronomic scene, a top-tier artistic and heritage ensemble, and, notably, outstanding warmth and human quality."

During his speech, the minister highlighted the commitment of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports and the Government of Extremadura to promote quality, sustainable, and authentic tourism that respects and contributes to the well-being of both residents and visitors. He also stressed the importance of showcasing the qualities and attributes of Las Hurdes.

León announced that in the coming weeks, two experiential viewpoints will be established in Caminomorisco and Pinofranqueado. He concluded his address by encouraging participants to explore the various stands and engage in the workshops and activities scheduled over the three days.

Accompanying the minister during his visit to Apithur was the General Director of Tourism, Óscar Mateos.

Extremadura tourism at Apithur

The General Directorate of Tourism is present at the fair with its own stand, providing information on products and news related to nature, historical heritage, cultural and sporting events, rural tourism, and gastronomy in Extremadura. The Las Hurdes event is part of the promotional actions of 'Extremadura Extraordinaria' aimed at boosting tourism among locals.

The programme for Apithur includes technical panels, a local agro-food market, tastings, live cooking demonstrations, children's workshops, a honey competition, solar observation, live painting, and traditional music and folklore performances, among other activities.
