Regional government and Campo de Criptana launch course on historic windmills

The Castilla-La Mancha government and the Campo de Criptana town hall have launched a specialised course focused on the management, operation, and interpretation of historic windmills. Applications for the course are open until 16 November.

The provincial delegate for Economy, Business and Employment, Miguel Ángel Diaz Brazales, stated that this training initiative aims to preserve heritage and facilitate the generational transfer of the miller profession. This effort is expected to benefit Campo de Criptana and nearby municipalities such as Herencia and Alcázar de San Juan, as well as other areas in the region and across Spain.

Diaz Brazales highlighted that the conservation and operational revival of the windmills could also serve as a tourist attraction. The free course combines traditional craftsmanship, primarily focusing on carpentry, with experiential tourism and heritage considerations. In the province of Ciudad Real and throughout Castilla-La Mancha, the windmill stands as a symbol of the region's identity.
