Lola Herrera, Natalia Dicenta and Carlos Olalla will star in ‘Camino a la Meca’, a play by Athol Fugard, on Friday, 6 November at the Teatro Villa de Molina. The performance is scheduled for 20:00, and all tickets have been sold out.

Presented by Pentación Espectáculos from Madrid, the drama is directed by Claudio Tolcachir. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “One of the main reasons I join a project is to know or sense that it will be an opportunity to meet and share experiences with people who will move me forever. I have been very fortunate in my life to have the affection and complicity of immense artists who inspire me.”

Tolcachir also shared his admiration for Lola Herrera, saying, “I fell in love with Lola Herrera encounter after encounter. Fascinated by her charisma, moved by her lucidity, and amazed by her curiosity and desire. It was then a matter of finding material that would do justice to such a woman, representing everything she wished to discuss.”

‘Camino a la Meca’ is inspired by the real-life figure Helen Martins, who rebelled against the norms of her time. Tolcachir noted, “In reading it, I heard Lola's voice beating in every text. I am honoured and excited about this new project, which I believe will remain in the minds and hearts of those of us who create it and each of the spectators who join us.”

Following the performance, the Mayor of Molina de Segura, José Ángel Alfonso, and the Councillor for Culture, María Hernández, will attend the presentation of the 2026 Theatre Career Award from the International Theatre Festival of Molina de Segura to Lola Herrera, awarded by the Association of Friends of the Teatro Villa de Molina.
