Madrid's fire service to acquire 16 new ladder vehicles for €22.9 million

The Madrid City Council has authorised a contract for the supply of ladder vehicles for the Fire Service during a recent government meeting. The total investment for this initiative amounts to €22.9 million, including VAT.

The contract includes the acquisition of 16 ladder vehicles, comprising 12 compact ladders of 32 metres and four ladders of 42 metres. These vehicles are expected to be delivered gradually between 2027 and 2028. Each vehicle will be fully equipped with the necessary materials to carry out specific interventions effectively.

This purchase aims to replace ten ladder vehicles currently in service under a leasing agreement that is nearing its end, as well as to progressively renew vehicles that are over 18 years old. The new ladders will enhance the fleet in terms of technical specifications, road safety, and environmental impact, incorporating improvements and safety systems mandated by current regulations.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand and strengthen the Madrid Fire Service, which includes increasing personnel, improving infrastructure and equipment, and acquiring new uniforms and work materials. The renewal is aligned with the Fire Fleet Operational Plan 2019-2029, which has a total budget of €62 million and encompasses 124 vehicles.
