Eight fashion brands from Extremadura participated in the closing show of the XII edition of SIQ Artesanía y Costura Andaluza 2026, held at the Fundación Cajasol in Seville. During the event, they presented 48 proposals that reflect the diversity of disciplines and specialties within the fashion sector in Extremadura.
The General Director of Extremadura Avante, Miguel Ángel Mendiano, emphasised that "extremeña fashion has talent, quality, and much to contribute to the national landscape." He also highlighted the economic significance of this activity, stating that "behind every design lies much more than creativity: there are companies, professionals, jobs, and an economic activity that we want to promote."
The participation of these companies is part of the initiatives by the Junta de Extremadura, through the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation, aimed at facilitating the promotion and international projection of extremeña businesses. This initiative has been developed through Extremadura Avante and its promotional brand, Moda Extremadura.
Showcasing extremeña fashion
The runway event allowed the brands to present their creations to fashion professionals, specialised media, influencers, and potential commercial contacts, bringing together designers, artisans, and companies specialised in author fashion, bespoke tailoring, and contemporary craftsmanship.
The eight participating brands represent various disciplines within the sector, with proposals that encompass author design, sustainable fashion, artisanal jewellery, accessories, and traditional crafts. Their creations combine design, specialisation, and artisanal techniques, reflecting the diverse business activities that make up the fashion sector in Extremadura.
Participation in SIQ provided these companies with a platform to showcase their work, establish professional contacts, and introduce their products to new audiences and potential markets.
Extremadura's strategic partnership with SIQ
The 2026 edition continues the collaboration between Moda Extremadura and SIQ, following Extremadura's participation as a guest autonomous community in 2025. This time, Moda Extremadura has joined as a strategic partner of the event, featuring in the official programme and in communication and promotional activities linked to the meeting.
Joint promotion of fashion and gastronomy
The extremeña participation in SIQ 2026 was complemented by a gastronomic promotion linked to the Alimentos de Extremadura brand, featuring a celebratory wine offered after the closing show. This initiative allowed for the incorporation of regional gastronomic products into an event that brought together professionals and representatives from the fashion and craftsmanship sectors.
The Junta de Extremadura continues to develop promotional actions and support for business activities to facilitate the presence of extremeña companies at professional events and to promote their access to new markets.
